Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage and rapidly assess patients across the lifespan, from newborns to geriatric patients
• Stabilize and manage acute presentations including respiratory, cardiac, trauma, and stroke
• Administer medications and IV drips safely and accurately, including vasoactive and sedative drips
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and monitor telemetry independently
• Initiate ventilator/BiPAP support with RT guidance and troubleshoot respiratory equipment
• Collaborate with the on-duty provider (MD/DO/PA) and coordinate patient care and transfers
• Attend CT for stroke activations and support time-sensitive interventions
• Document care thoroughly in EPIC and maintain high standards of patient safety
• Use de-escalation skills and appropriate security/PD resources when managing behavioral health events

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible to work in Minnesota (license to submit required)
• Current BLS and ACLS required; TNCC and ENPC or PALS required (per department requirement)
• Minimum 2 years of Critical Access Emergency Department experience preferred
• Comfortable reading cardiac strips and managing telemetry independently
• Experience with EPIC charting preferred
• Ability to function independently, learn quickly, and be a strong team player
• Must meet facility radius and submission rules (candidates may not have had affiliation with CommonSpirit facilities within the past year)

Education

• Active RN license required. BSN is not required for this role.

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing and triage across the lifespan
• Trauma level IV care and stroke readiness
• Cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation
• Medication/IV drip administration (including norepinephrine, nitro, heparin, amiodarone, propofol)
• Ventilator and BiPAP initiation and troubleshooting
• Phlebotomy and basic procedural skills
• De-escalation and behavioral crisis management
• Strong independent clinical decision-making and teamwork
