Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered PCU nursing on night shifts, ensuring safety and high-quality care
• Perform and interpret EKGs and promptly escalate abnormal findings per unit protocols
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to maintain clear, team-wide patient records
• Float within scope to like units as needed to meet facility staffing demands
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and improve patient outcomes
• Respond to emergencies and manage patient deterioration with ACLS/BLS skills

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure appropriate for practice (state license required; pending licenses are not accepted)
• Must pass the facility EKG exam — no exceptions
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience preferred (first-time travel nurses accepted)
• Willingness to float to like units when needed
• Must be able to meet the facility's travel radius rule (locals within 50 miles of Cape Fear Valley Medical Center are not accepted for this traveler role)

Education

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (ADN/BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid PCU nursing skills including telemetry and intermediate acuity patient management
• Proficient with Epic electronic charting
• EKG interpretation and cardiac monitoring expertise
• Strong critical thinking and prioritization during night shift workloads
• Comfortable working with patient ratios typically around 1:4–1:5 on this unit
• Effective communication and teamwork across disciplines
