Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pediatric SLP evaluations using tools like CELF, PLS-4 and Rossetti
- Provide direct outpatient treatment for children with autism, developmental delays and language disorders
- Create and manage individualized plans of care, reassessments and discharge planning
- Document thoroughly in EPIC, including assessment notes, concurrent therapy documentation and SLP evaluation coding
- Educate and coach families to support carryover and functional communication at home
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members such as PT and interpretation services to optimize care
- Manage caseload independently with professional judgment and strong clinical decision-making
- Follow facility patient-safety protocols, screening for signs and symptoms of abuse and reporting as required
Qualifications
- CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology)
- Current State SLP license (must be licensed and able to practice in the state where assigned)
- BLS certification
- Minimum 1 year of SLP experience; experience with pediatric outpatient and autism preferred
- Travel assignment experience required — comfortable working independently on a travel contract
- Proficient with EPIC (documentation in EPIC is required)
- Comfortable conducting evaluations and continuing treatment (evaluations must not be used to refer out ongoing therapy)
- Ability to complete payor credentialing and align start date with credentialing timelines
Knowledge & Skills
- Pediatric assessment and treatment for expressive/receptive language delays, stuttering and articulation
- Experience with autism spectrum disorders and behavioral/ADHD challenges
- Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and communication boards
- Dysphagia knowledge (bedside swallow evaluation, compensatory strategies) preferred
- Medicaid billing basics and SLP evaluation coding expertise
- Family-centered education and coaching skills
- Use of standardized and screening tools: CELF, PLS-4, Rossetti, and other non-evaluative screening tools
- Strong documentation skills, concurrent therapy documentation and plan of care development
