Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Day, 5x8 schedule with float responsibilities to Pre-Op/Phase I/II and occasional evening call (possible 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM) plus every-other-weekend coverage as outlined in contract
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess pre-op and post-op patients thoroughly and deliver compassionate, evidence-based care in the PACU
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and act quickly to ensure patient safety
- Manage IV therapy, perform phlebotomy, and care for PICC lines and other vascular access
- Administer medications, including procedural sedation, and monitor patients using RASS and other sedation tools
- Provide airway assessment, assist with intubation when needed, and support ventilated patients during recovery
- Coordinate safe discharge planning and give clear, patient-centered follow-up instructions
- Document care accurately in Epic and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
- Float to pre-op and phase areas as needed and participate in unit call rotation and weekend coverage
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license in California (required)
- Minimum 1 year of PACU nursing experience (ICU or ED experience is preferred)
- Experience charting in Epic (charting system requirement)
- Current BLS; ACLS and PALS are preferred
- Strong skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and management of blood products and PCA pumps
- Comfort with float assignments, occasional call shifts, and working with all age groups from pediatrics to geriatrics
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative nursing knowledge: pre-op assessment, post-op care, discharge instructions
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/management
- Airway management, intubation support, and care of ventilated patients
- Procedural sedation administration and monitoring, including reversal agents
- PICC line care, starting and maintaining IVs, and blood product administration
- Use of the Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale (RASS) and interpretation of ABGs
- Familiarity with a wide range of surgical cases (general, ortho, vascular, neuro, gyn, plastics, ophthalmology, GI, urology)
- Strong documentation skills in Epic and clear interdisciplinary communication
