Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Primarily day shifts: 3x12-hour day shifts per week (07:00 AM - 07:30 PM) with schedules posted in 6-week blocks. On-call expectations: three weeknight call shifts (11:00 PM - 07:00 AM) and three weekend call shifts per 6-week rotation (07:00 AM - 07:00 PM or 07:00 PM - 07:00 AM). Weekends and specific assignment depend on unit needs; float to other ORs at First Hill Campus as required.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room, prioritizing patient safety and sterile technique
- Prepare and assist in a wide range of surgical procedures, supporting surgeons and the sterile team
- Respond to call assignments within a 30-minute window when on-call, providing confident independent coverage when required
- Float to other ORs on First Hill Campus as needed while maintaining flexibility and teamwork
- Document patient care accurately and timely in Epic and other charting systems
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including anesthesia, pharmacy, radiology and support services to optimize patient outcomes
- Adhere to facility guidelines for infection control, patient identification and perioperative protocols
- Support unit staffing and scheduling needs while honoring the unit's approach to voluntary flexibility
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of perioperative/Operating Room experience required
- Current RN license; active compact license is honored at Swedish facilities
- BLS required
- ACLS preferred
- CNOR preferred
- Thoracic and vascular experience required to independently take call
- Comfortable floating to other ORs and adapting to variable case mixes
- Able to respond to call within 30 minutes and work weekend call per the 6-week rotation
- Previous permanent Swedish staff are not permitted to work here as travelers; this is a hard stop
Education
- Active RN license (compact license accepted)
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
- Operating Room workflows across General, Thoracic and Vascular cases
- Charting in Epic and accurate perioperative documentation
- Ability to work with interdisciplinary teams and specialty services
- Experience with trauma, transplant and pediatric populations is a plus
- Strong critical thinking, situational awareness and ability to function independently on call
- Comfort with floating to multiple ORs and variable schedules
