Shift Type: 3x12-hour nights, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (Night shifts). Schedule includes some call and weekend coverage (minimum every other weekend); floating to different units within the OSU organization as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality telemetry and progressive care to adult and geriatric patients on night shifts
• Interpret cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmias, initiate appropriate interventions and escalate when needed
• Start and maintain IVs, manage central/PICC lines, and administer medications safely using Epic charting
• Manage insulin drips and heparin protocols per facility guidelines
• Perform tracheostomy care, feeding tube management, wound care and use wound VAC when indicated
• Educate patients and families on condition, medications and discharge planning to support positive outcomes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (RT, PT, Pharmacy, Social Work, Rapid Response) to coordinate care
• Float to different units within the OSU organization as needed while maintaining high standards of patient safety
• Participate in emergency response and adhere to isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Document accurately and promptly in Epic and support continuity of care across shifts

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (Telemetry/Progressive Care preferred)
• Active RN license valid in the state of practice (Ohio licensure expected for Columbus assignments)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Proven IV start and IV therapy skills (including central/PICC line care)
• Epic charting experience required
• Previous travel nurse experience preferred
• Ability to float across units and work independently on night shifts
• Comfort with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring expertise, including dysrhythmia interpretation
• Progressive Care/PCU/Stepdown clinical skills
• IV therapy, central line and PICC management, phlebotomy
• Medication administration and familiarity with heparin and insulin infusion protocols
• Tracheostomy care and feeding tube management
• Wound care and wound VAC experience
• Use of Epic for charting and documentation
• Infection control, isolation precautions and PPE best practices
• Strong patient education, communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
