Shift Type: Varies (4x10 Day schedule per 6-week block), 07:00 AM - 05:30 PM (primary day shift); includes call obligations: three weeknight call shifts 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM and three weekend call shifts per 6-week schedule (07:00 AM - 07:00 PM or 07:00 PM - 07:00 AM). Rotating (primarily Day with night/weekend call)

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room for patients across the lifespan, from neonates to geriatrics
- Safely circulate and assist during thoracic and vascular surgical cases and be prepared to take call independently for those specialties
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure efficient, patient-centered care
- Maintain meticulous Epic documentation and charting to support continuity of care
- Adhere to sterile technique and OR protocols, promoting patient safety at every step
- Float to other OR units at First Hill Campus when needed, adapting quickly to differing team workflows
- Respond to call assignments within the required 30-minute response time and manage urgent operative needs
Qualifications
- Active RN license (compact licenses honored by Swedish facilities)
- Minimum 2 years perioperative/Operating Room experience (screen out under 2 years)
- Required: BLS certification; ACLS and CNOR preferred
- Must have independent thoracic and vascular experience to take call
- Comfortable floating to other ORs and working in a high-volume surgical environment (21 rooms, 50-60 daily census)
- Epic experience preferred for charting
- Ability to work scheduled call rotations (weeknights and weekends) and respond within 30 minutes
- Note: Previous Swedish permanent staff are not permitted to work here as travelers — this is a hard stop
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative nursing principles and OR workflow
- Sterile technique, instrument handling, and intraoperative safety practices
- Thoracic and vascular procedure familiarity (e.g., lobectomy, thoracotomy, AAA repairs, carotid procedures)
- General and specialty surgical case awareness (transplant, bariatrics, general surgery exposures noted)
- Proficient documentation skills in Epic or similar charting systems
- Strong communication and teamwork in high-stakes OR environments
- Ability to triage, prioritize, and act decisively during call and emergent situations
