Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care for CVOR, cardiac, vascular and transplant patients
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists and the OR team to ensure safe, efficient procedures
• Maintain meticulous documentation in EPIC and ensure accurate charting and handoffs
• Respond to emergent situations, participate in code response and support trauma-level care
• Prepare, troubleshoot, and maintain specialized cardiovascular equipment (LVAD, IABP, ECMO, robotics) as needed
• Support infection control, blood product administration, and universal protocol time-outs to protect patient safety
• Mentor and support peers on the unit and contribute to continuous process improvement

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of Ohio)
• Minimum 3 years OR experience (HARD STOP); at least 2 years dedicated cardiac and vascular experience
• Minimum 1 year CVOR experience
• Experience working in a Level I Trauma facility (required)
• BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• EPIC charting experience (required)
• Comfortable with on-call rotation and weekend coverage

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative skills in General OR and CVOR environments
• Clinical competence in cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular and transplant procedures
• Familiarity with advanced procedures: TAVR, TEVAR/EVAR, CABG, LVAD, IABP and ECMO
• Experience with robotic-assisted surgery (Da Vinci systems) helpful
• Proficient with EPIC documentation and electronic charting workflows
• Solid emergency management skills including code response and malignant hyperthermia protocols
• Excellent communication and teamwork in high-acuity surgical settings
