Roles & Responsibilities

• Scrub and circulate during cardiovascular and thoracic procedures, ensuring sterile technique and patient safety
• Prepare and maintain CVOR instrument trays and specialty equipment, including documentation and crash cart readiness
• Assist the surgical team during CABG, EVAR, TEVAR, valve procedures and other complex vascular/cardiac cases
• Reprocess and manage cardiovascular/thoracic instrumentation according to facility protocols and high level disinfectant procedures
• Collaborate with nurses, surgeons and perioperative staff to support smooth case flow and excellent patient outcomes
• Share on-call duties and provide reliable weekend coverage as part of the rotating team

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with 5+ years total CST experience
• Minimum 2 years dedicated cardiac and vascular experience
• At least 1 year CVOR experience and 1 year in a Level I Trauma facility
• Current BLS certification
• Experience with cardiovascular/thoracic instrument reprocessing and CVOR procedures
• Familiarity with EPIC charting and equipment documentation

Education

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential

Knowledge & Skills

• Aseptic technique and universal protocol (time out) procedures
• Scrub and circulate skills in General OR, CVOR and Trauma settings
• Proficiency in CVOR procedures: CABG, EVAR, TEVAR, valve replacement and other endovascular cases
• Experience with cell saver, electrosurgical units, fiber optic equipment and case cart setup
• High level disinfectant (HLD) procedures and instrument care
• Crash cart readiness and emergency management
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with EPIC charting
