Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide advanced respiratory care to adult and pediatric ICU patients, delivering safe, evidence-based interventions
• Manage mechanical ventilators, titrate support and participate in weaning protocols
• Perform respiratory assessments, interpret ABGs, and implement timely treatment plans
• Document all care clearly and accurately in Epic to support continuity and quality
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Float within scope to cover like units and meet facility needs when required
• Participate in unit quality improvement, safety initiatives and infection control practices
• Fulfill scheduled night, weekend and holiday coverage as part of the team

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Active state respiratory therapy license required (pending licenses are not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience; ICU/critical care and pediatric experience strongly preferred
• Comfortable and experienced caring for both adult and pediatric ICU patients
• Current BLS and ACLS required; PALS preferred for pediatric coverage
• Experience with Epic charting preferred
• Willingness to work nights, every-other-weekend coverage, holidays and float between units
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions allowed); COVID vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation management and ventilator troubleshooting
• Airway management and supplemental oxygen therapies
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and interpretation
• Critical care principles for both pediatric and adult patients
• Proficient documentation in Epic
• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization and critical thinking
• Clear communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
• Adaptability to cover different units and changing patient needs
