Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat pediatric patients using evidence-based SLP approaches, including formal tools like CELF, PLS-4, and Rossetti
- Document thoroughly and timely in EPIC to support clinical continuity and billing requirements
- Develop and implement individualized plans of care and reassess progress regularly
- Provide family-centered education and coaching to support carryover of therapy goals at home and in the community
- Deliver adaptive communication support using AAC devices and communication boards when appropriate
- Manage concurrent therapy situations — document and coordinate care across disciplines
- Screen and identify signs and symptoms of physical, sexual, or psychological abuse and act per facility policy
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (PT, interpreters, etc.) to optimize patient outcomes
- Complete evaluations and provide ongoing treatment — do not refer out for ongoing therapy when treatment is indicated
- Maintain required documentation for Medicaid and SLP evaluation coding to ensure compliant patient care
Qualifications
- CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence) required
- Active State License (State Licensed) required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of SLP experience; travel experience is required for this role
- Comfortable and experienced working with children with autism and families of children with autism
- Proficient with EPIC documentation (REQUIRED)
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated with minimal heavy support
- Experience with pediatric outpatient settings preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Pediatric outpatient evaluation and treatment
- Autism spectrum disorders and developmental delays
- Fluency and language disorder assessment and intervention
- Alternative and augmentative communication: AAC devices and communication boards
- Evaluation tools: CELF, PLS-4, Rossetti Infant-Toddler Language Scale, and non-evaluative screening tools
- Dysphagia knowledge (bedside swallow, compensatory strategies, MBSS interpretation) preferred
- Billing/documentation: SLP evaluation coding, Medicaid, plan of care, reassessments, discharge
- Concurrent therapy documentation and treatment workflows
- Patient/family education and in-service training delivery
- Patient safety awareness including recognition of abuse signs
