Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments for children and adolescents to inform care planning
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the care team
- Administer medications safely and document all medication-related activities
- Deliver therapeutic communication and crisis intervention to support emotional stability
- Monitor patient well-being and progress, adjusting care plans as needed
- Educate patients and families about condition, treatment and recovery strategies
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation to ensure continuity of care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create a safe, healing environment
Qualifications
- Active Oklahoma nursing license required (must be active at time of submission)
- Minimum 6 months of Children Behavioral Health experience — required
- BLS (AHA) certification — required prior to start
- Handle with Care certification — preferred
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Demonstrated experience with medication administration, crisis intervention, and therapeutic communication
- Comfortable working in an acute behavioral health setting and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
Education
- Registered Nurse (RN) — active Oklahoma license required
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and treatment planning for pediatric behavioral health
- Medication administration and safe documentation practices
- Therapeutic communication techniques tailored to children and families
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies
- Clinical documentation and electronic health record familiarity
- Ability to monitor and report changes in patient condition
- Strong collaboration and teamwork with multidisciplinary staff
- Patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
