Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients' functional abilities and craft meaningful, person-centered therapy plans
- Implement therapeutic activities that promote independence in daily living
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and improve outcomes
- Document progress, adjustments, and treatment plans in a timely and professional manner
- Educate patients and families on strategies and home programs to support recovery
- Advocate for patients' needs and help facilitate safe transitions across care settings
Qualifications
- Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential — required
- Eligible for or holding any required Vermont licensure/registration to practice as a COTA
- Comfortable working Monday-Friday daytime schedule (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Previous experience in occupational therapy or rehabilitation settings is a plus
Education
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or equivalent (typical for COTA practice)
- Completion of an accredited OTA program and COTA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL training, adaptive equipment recommendations, and therapeutic activity planning
- Solid clinical reasoning and the ability to individualize interventions
- Competent documentation and electronic medical record usage
- Team-oriented approach and good communication with patients, families, and staff
- Ability to prioritize caseload and manage time effectively during a daytime shift
