Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct patient care including assistance with activities of daily living
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately and report changes promptly
- Support mobility, transfers, and safe patient handling with attention to dignity
- Assist nursing staff with treatments and follow care plans carefully
- Maintain clear, timely documentation in the patient chart and communicate with the care team
- Follow infection control practices and facility policies to keep patients safe
- Build meaningful connections with patients and families to enhance the recovery experience
Qualifications
- Active CNA certification (CNA or T-CNA) — current and in good standing
- State eligibility or ability to obtain New Mexico CNA certification if not already licensed
- Current basic life support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Experience in a rehab, skilled nursing, or long-term care setting preferred
- Dependable, patient-focused attitude and strong teamwork skills
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of an approved CNA training program and certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in personal care, bathing, dressing, feeding and toileting assistance
- Proficient with taking and documenting vital signs and measurements
- Knowledge of basic infection control and safety protocols
- Clear communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to follow care plans, adapt to clinical workflows, and learn facility EMR systems
