Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, helping with daily living activities and dignity-preserving tasks
- Assist with bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility while encouraging independence whenever possible
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report observations to nursing staff
- Support safe transfers and use of assistive devices to reduce fall risk and promote comfort
- Document care accurately and clearly in the facility record, ensuring continuity of care
- Build positive relationships with residents and families to foster trust and a warm atmosphere
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in New York
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background check and meet facility immunization requirements
- Comfortable assisting with transfers, bathing, and other direct resident care duties
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Previous long-term care or per diem experience a plus, but enthusiasm and reliability matter most
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program completion and state certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic nursing care techniques and infection control practices
- Skill in safe resident handling and transfer techniques
- Ability to follow care plans and communicate changes to the care team
- Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
- Basic documentation skills and comfort learning electronic health record systems
