Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, assisting with daily living activities like bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report changes to the nursing team to help ensure excellent outcomes
- Perform routine tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting with feeding, and supporting mobility safely
- Document care accurately and thoroughly in resident charts and care plans
- Support a positive, respectful environment by communicating clearly with residents, families, and team members
- Participate in infection control and safety practices to protect residents and coworkers
- Assist in meaningful activities that promote resident dignity, comfort, and engagement
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential in New York (required)
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or assisted living is a plus
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings (TB, immunizations)
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-centered approach
- Reliable, professional, and committed to teamwork and high-quality resident care
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved CNA training program and current CNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic nursing care and activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Infection control practices and safe patient handling techniques
- Comfortable with documentation and basic electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Strong interpersonal skills: empathy, patience, and clear communication
- Time management and ability to prioritize resident needs in a busy setting
