Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate speech, language, cognition, and swallowing function using evidence-based tools
• Develop individualized treatment plans that aim for measurable progress and meaningful outcomes
• Deliver skilled therapy sessions and adjust approaches based on patient response and goals
• Document clinical findings, progress notes, and discharge plans accurately and timely
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, therapists, and families to coordinate care and support
• Educate patients and caregivers with practical strategies to carry over gains into daily life
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• Current Michigan Speech-Language Pathology license or ability to obtain prior to start
• ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or equivalent clinical credential
• Experience providing assessment and treatment in inpatient/outpatient settings preferred
• Strong clinical documentation skills and familiarity with common assessment tools
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; able to work independently in a contract role
• Current BLS/CPR certification as required by facility (or willing to obtain)

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders (ASHA-accredited program preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with standardized and functional assessment tools for speech, language, cognition, and swallowing
• Skilled in evidence-based therapy techniques and goal-directed treatment planning
• Solid documentation practices and familiarity with electronic health records
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines and advocate for patient-centered care
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and staff
