Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for medical/surgical and critically ill patients from admission through discharge, including discharge planning.
- Operate and manage advanced medical equipment such as ventilators, multiple IV pumps, A-lines, central lines, and chest tubes.
- Assess patients and implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision to ensure high-quality care.
- Act as a clinical leader on the unit—coach, mentor, and assist with precepting of staff.
- Coordinate care and give direction to RNs, LPNs, CNAs, housekeeping, and dietary staff while collaborating with providers, charge nurse, and nursing leadership.
Qualifications
- Current Montana RN licensure (required)
- BLS and ACLS required
- PALS, ENPC, TNCC preferred
- Recent practice in an advanced Medical/Surgical unit and recent Critical Care nursing experience required
- Demonstrated ability to operate invasive lines and ventilatory support equipment and manage multiple IV pumps
Education
- Degree from an accredited Nursing program
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced nursing principles and procedures
- Ventilator and ventilatory support knowledge
- IV pump management and multiple IV line care
- Central lines and A-line management
- Chest tube management
- Clinical leadership and precepting
- Comfort with basic office equipment and inpatient documentation/workflows
