Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (3 nights per week). Rotating 12-hour day/night option may be available; orientation week 1: Monday-Friday days, week 2: 36 hours of on-unit orientation with preceptor.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage high-acuity Med-Surg and telemetry patients with attentive, evidence-based care
• Interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias and initiate appropriate interventions or escalation
• Manage IV/vascular access including starting/maintaining IVs, PICC care, and central line blood draws
• Administer and monitor blood products and PCA pump therapies safely
• Implement infection prevention and fall-prevention protocols to keep patients safe
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, RT, Pharmacy, Social Work, Radiology) to coordinate care
• Provide compassionate care for oncology patients and support professional development around chemotherapy competency when desired
• Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed and adapt to changing patient needs

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
• ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred (oncology experience preferred but not required)
• Must meet recent experience requirements within the last 3 years; at least 1 year of current specialty experience required for clinical pass
• Experience with Epic charting required
• Comfort floating to other MS/Telemetry units and working in a high-acuity environment
• IV therapy/Phlebotomy skills preferred; experience with PCA and Alaris pump use preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry/cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Med-Surg and progressive care (PCU)/MS Tele workflows
• IV access management: starting IVs, PICC/PICC management, central line blood draws
• Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI) and bladder scanner use
• Use and troubleshooting of Alaris pumps and PCA pumps
• Blood product administration and safe medication practices (including heparin protocols)
• Respiratory support familiarity: BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care
• Infection prevention, fall prevention, wound care and use of Wound Vac
• Comfort working in a teaching-hospital environment and participating in rapid response/code teams
