Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients' communication and swallowing function and develop individualized care plans
• Perform bedside swallow studies and document findings clearly in Cerner PowerChart
• Deliver evidence-based speech-language therapy across assigned areas (inpatient, outpatient, rehab)
• Collaborate with rehab aides, OT/PT, nursing and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
• Float between units as needed and adapt quickly to varying patient acuity and caseloads
• Provide family/caregiver education and discharge planning to support safe transitions
• Participate in unit-specific orientation and complete Cerner training as required
• Maintain accurate EMR charting and comply with facility policies and documentation standards

Qualifications

• Certified Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) via ASHA — required
• Current BLS certification — required
• Experience with Cerner PowerChart or similar EMR systems
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience preferred; candidates with 1 year of strong inpatient clinical experience may be considered
• Proven experience performing bedside swallow studies; video swallowing studies experience preferred
• Comfort working with adult neuro, trauma, stroke, TBI, spinal cord injury and post-surgical populations
• Ability to wear required uniform (maroon polo, dark pants) and follow facility dress code

Knowledge & Skills

• Speech therapy evaluation and treatment planning
• Swallowing assessment and bedside swallow study competency
• Familiarity with video swallowing studies (preferred)
• Strong patient assessment and clinical reasoning skills
• Accurate EMR charting, especially in Cerner PowerChart
• Experience in inpatient acute care and rehab environments
• Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams
