Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform generalist clinical laboratory testing across core disciplines to support patient care
• Operate the blood bank: perform crossmatches, antibody workups, and maintain transfusion records
• Collect specimens via phlebotomy and ensure accurate labeling and patient identification
• Prepare and read Gram stains accurately to support rapid clinical decisions
• Manage the lab during night shifts as the sole on-site technologist after training
• Complete required competency and specialty exams to maintain high-quality testing
• Follow infection control, safety, and documentation procedures to keep patients and staff safe

Qualifications

• Experience as a generalist in a clinical laboratory with blood bank, phlebotomy, and Gram stain skills
• DCI/BVP certification (listed in the role requirements)
• Willingness and ability to work Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• Successful completion of Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam
• Meet required health and screening items: COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, TB testing, Hepatitis B, influenza vaccine, Tdap, varicella, fit test, 10-panel drug screen, and color-blind testing
• Comfort and competence working independently overnight and handling urgent lab needs

Knowledge & Skills

• Generalist clinical laboratory testing across chemistry, hematology, microbiology and blood bank
• Blood bank procedures including compatibility testing and transfusion support
• Phlebotomy technique and specimen collection best practices
• Gram stain preparation and interpretation
• Independent night shift operations, problem-solving and prioritization
• Adherence to lab quality systems, documentation, and safety protocols
