Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 6:30 AM (Night). Schedule varies by assignment; call hours M-F 9:00 PM - 6:30 AM; weekend coverage as needed (3 weekend shifts per 13 weeks as needed).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care as a scrub or circulating nurse for a wide range of surgical specialties
• Prepare OR rooms, instruments and robotics equipment for diverse procedures
• Assist surgical teams during complex cases including trauma, neurosurgery, robotics and transplants
• Respond quickly and competently to Level 1 trauma activations and emergency cases
• Deliver age-appropriate care for adolescents, adults and geriatric patients
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure surgical safety checklists are followed every time
• Float between units within the OSU organization as needed, adapting to different team dynamics
• Document patient care accurately and communicate clearly with interdisciplinary teams

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of operating room nursing experience (as listed in the job details)
• Experience in Level I trauma environments preferred
• BLS required or strongly preferred (listed among certifications)
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Strong scrub skills and comfort with a broad set of procedures including robotics, laparoscopic and open cases
• Ability and willingness to float to different units and take required on-call shifts
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven skills in scrub technique and circulating in high-volume ORs
• Familiarity with robotic-assisted surgery and endoscopic procedures
• Comfort with trauma cases including amputations, burns and multi-injury MVAs
• Experience across specialties: General Surgery, Neuro, Ortho, Plastics, GYN, Urology, Transplant and Ophthalmology
• Ability to operate in fast-paced settings, prioritize, and function in interdisciplinary teams
• Understanding of perioperative patient safety, sterile processing and surgical instrumentation
