Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled labor and delivery nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum and immediate postpartum patients
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using appropriate surveillance and interpretive skills
• Perform neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn care when needed
• Respond rapidly and effectively to obstetric emergencies and escalate appropriately
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiology and neonatal teams for coordinated care
• Document assessments, interventions and patient education clearly and thoroughly in the EMR
• Educate patients and families about labor, delivery and postpartum care with compassion and clarity
• Participate in unit competency testing and maintain specialty-specific skills

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Current BLS certification (required)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification (required)
• NIHSS certification (listed)
• Completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing
• Satisfy health requirements: COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, 2-step PPD or IGRA, Varicella, physical/health statement and 10-panel drug screen
• Prior labor & delivery nursing experience preferred

Education

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal monitoring interpretation and intrapartum assessment
• Labor support techniques and pain management modalities
• Neonatal assessment and immediate newborn care
• Obstetric emergency protocols and rapid response teamwork
• Strong clinical documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) usage
• Effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration
