Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily living activities like bathing, dressing, and mobility, treating each person with dignity and respect
• Monitor residents’ conditions and promptly report changes to nursing staff
• Provide compassionate support during meals and help with feeding when needed
• Maintain a safe, clean environment by following infection control and safety procedures
• Document resident care activities and observations accurately and promptly
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support individualized care plans

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent
• State-required registration/certification for Maryland preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification or willingness to obtain
• Previous experience working with geriatric or long-term care populations is a plus
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
• Ability to follow care plans and work collaboratively with nursing staff

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an accredited GNA / nursing assistant training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and safe patient handling
• Familiarity with infection control and standard precautions
• Comfortable with ADL assistance (bathing, toileting, transfers, feeding)
• Good observational skills for noticing changes in resident condition
• Able to document care in a clear, timely manner
• Team-oriented attitude and reliable time management
