Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide respectful, hands-on care to geriatric patients, focusing on their comfort and dignity
• Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
• Support mealtime assistance and safe feeding practices when needed
• Document care activities and observations accurately and clearly
• Collaborate with the care team to create a warm, safe environment for residents

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) preferred or willing to obtain
• Current immunizations and TB screening per facility policy
• Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
• Compassionate attitude and good communication skills with older adults and families
• Comfort with routine charting and following care plans

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and elder needs
• Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Basic infection control and hygiene practices
• Observation skills to notice subtle changes in condition
• Teamwork and clear communication with nurses and interdisciplinary staff
• Time management for per diem/float assignments
