Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate emergency nursing care to patients in the ED
• Rapidly assess, triage and prioritize patients based on acuity
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, techs and other care team members to coordinate patient care
• Document patient assessments, interventions and responses in the medical record
• Maintain situational awareness and respond effectively in high-pressure situations
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments and follow-up plans
• Participate in unit quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Hawaii or compact RN license as applicable
• Minimum ED nursing experience preferred, demonstrating strong triage and assessment skills
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred or able to obtain
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work 12.5-hour ED shifts and adapt to a fast-paced environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - BSN preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent for initial nursing pathway (if applicable)

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency assessment and triage expertise
• Airway management, IV therapy and medication administration skills
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Ability to prioritize multiple critical tasks under pressure
• Effective patient and family communication in stressful situations
• Basic knowledge of ED protocols and infection control practices
