Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patient mobility, strength, balance, and functional status to build a clear starting point
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that help patients regain independence
• Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions including therapeutic exercise and manual therapy
• Provide gait training, transfer training, and adaptive equipment recommendations
• Collaborate closely with nurses, occupational therapists, physicians, and case managers to coordinate care
• Document patient progress accurately and timely in the medical record
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and strategies for safe recovery
• Support safe discharge planning and provide clear handoffs to outpatient or home care providers

Qualifications

• Current or compact Physical Therapist license in the state of Alabama (or eligible to obtain prior to start)
• Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program
• BLS/CPR certification required
• Experience in rehabilitation or post-acute care settings preferred
• Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills, and ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Ability to pass required background checks and healthcare credentialing

Education

• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or equivalent from an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical knowledge of therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and mobility training
• Proficiency with patient assessment tools and functional outcome measures
• Comfortable with electronic medical record documentation
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
• Ability to adapt treatments based on patient goals and safety considerations
• Team collaboration and time management in a fast-paced rehab environment
