Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical function and mobility using evidence-based evaluations
• Develop individualized treatment plans to improve strength, mobility, and independence
• Deliver hands-on and therapeutic interventions, progressing care based on patient response
• Document patient progress clearly and communicate outcomes with the care team
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safe mobility strategies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to support seamless discharge planning and continuity of care
• Promote a safe environment and adhere to facility policies and infection control standards

Qualifications

• Current Physical Therapist license in Maryland or eligibility to obtain licensure promptly
• Degree in Physical Therapy (DPT preferred) from an accredited program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications a plus
• Previous experience in outpatient/rehab settings preferred
• Strong clinical reasoning, excellent communication skills, and a patient-centered approach
• Able to pass required background checks and facility onboarding

Education

• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred; Bachelor’s or Master’s in Physical Therapy acceptable when applicable

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and modalities
• Skilled in gait training, transfers, and functional mobility assessment
• Proficient documentation skills and familiarity with electronic medical records
• Ability to work collaboratively with nurses, physicians, and rehab aides
• Time management and caseload prioritization to meet patient needs efficiently

This is a travel contract, so while you’re based in Lanham you’ll be a short drive from a lot of great options: explore the vibrant National Harbor waterfront (shops, restaurants, and scenic walks along the Potomac), visit nearby College Park and the University of Maryland campus for local events, hop into Washington, DC for museums and monuments just a short commute away, or enjoy outdoor time at local parks and trails. Weekend trips to Annapolis and Baltimore are also easy for Chesapeake Bay seafood and city fun.
