Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered critical care in the ICU during overnight shifts
• Monitor and assess patients continuously, recognizing and responding to changes quickly
• Manage ventilators, hemodynamic support, and complex medication regimens safely
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans
• Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record and communicate clear handoffs at shift change
• Support families with clear, compassionate communication during critical moments

Qualifications

• Active RN license in California (or compact license per state rules)
• ICU clinical experience and comfort with high-acuity patients
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS strongly preferred
• Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, and ability to prioritize in fast-paced settings
• Professional communication skills and ability to work effectively on night shift teams

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care assessment and monitoring
• Ventilator management and respiratory support basics
• Advanced cardiac life support principles (ACLS)
• IV medication administration and titration for critical care drips
• Accurate EHR charting and clinical documentation
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and handoff techniques
