Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, safe med-surg nursing care to adult patients on a 32-bed unit
• Monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms, escalating changes appropriately
• Perform routine nursing assessments and document vital signs using the unit’s equipment and EMR
• Operate and utilize bladder scanners and vital sign machines accurately for patient care
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (RNs, PCTs, physicians) to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
• Maintain patient ratios, prioritize tasks on busy night shifts, and ensure continuity of care across handoffs
• Follow unit policies, dress code, and safety protocols while promoting a positive patient experience

Qualifications

• Valid LVN/LPN license (current and in good standing)
• BLS certification (required)
• Hospital experience required; Med-Surg specialty experience preferred
• Telemetry experience and comfort monitoring cardiac rhythms
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR is a plus
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and approximately 4 weekend shifts per month
• Strong communication skills, teamwork mindset, and openness to feedback

Education

• LPN/LVN (vocational nursing diploma or equivalent)

Knowledge & Skills

• Med-Surg nursing best practices and patient assessment
• Telemetry monitoring and early recognition of cardiac changes
• Proficiency with bladder scanner and vital sign machines
• Experience documenting in Meditech EMR or similar systems
• Ability to manage a 5:1 patient ratio effectively
• Time management, prioritization, and collaborative problem solving
