Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate pre-operative nursing care to pediatric patients, ensuring they and their families feel informed and supported
• Conduct thorough pre-op assessments and document findings to support safe anesthesia and surgical care
• Prepare patients and families for procedures with clear, age-appropriate explanations and reassurance
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative teams to coordinate safe, timely care
• Monitor and communicate pre-op concerns and changes in condition to the care team
• Ensure accurate medication and allergy reconciliation prior to procedures

Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in Missouri
• Experience working in pre-operative or perioperative nursing, with pediatric experience strongly preferred
• Comfort working with children and communicating effectively with families
• Current BLS certification required; PALS preferred
• Ability to pass facility onboarding and orientation processes

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred where available

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric assessment and age-appropriate communication skills
• Familiarity with pre-op documentation and checklists
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary surgical teams
• Strong attention to detail and patient safety focus
• Calm, reassuring approach with patients and families during stressful moments
