Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Brooklyn Pk, Maryland
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Per diem (days vary), 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM Day shift
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $16 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Support resident mobility and transfers safely using proper body mechanics
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Assist with meals, hygiene, dressing, and toileting while preserving dignity and independence
- Document care accurately and communicate effectively with the care team
- Engage residents in friendly conversation and supportive activities to enhance quality of life
Qualifications
- Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) or equivalent certification
- Current basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Demonstrated experience working with elderly residents or in long-term care settings helpful
- Ability to pass background check and meet facility immunization requirements
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic geriatric care
- Safe transfer and mobility assistance techniques
- Basic infection control and hygiene practices
- Comfortable with bedside documentation and care charting
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills when interacting with residents and families
- Ability to follow care plans and escalate concerns appropriately
