Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts including weekends. Day shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM; Night shift: 7:30 PM - 7:30 AM. Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts per week (36 hours), every other weekend; rotation cycle every 4 weeks; on-call required.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity neurocritical care at the bedside, managing ventilators and invasive neuromonitoring with precision
• Monitor and titrate vasoactive drips, continuous sedation, and emergency medications safely and confidently
• Assess and manage intracranial pressure devices including EVDs and lumbar drains
• Perform and maintain IV access, arterial lines, central lines, PICCs, and ports while ensuring aseptic technique
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias and other cardiac events
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, PT, pharmacy, and rapid response to deliver coordinated care
• Document care promptly and accurately in Epic to ensure continuity and high-quality patient records
• Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity and adapt quickly to varied team workflows

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU nursing experience
• Travel nursing experience required
• Current BCLS and ACLS certifications (AHA preferred)
• NIHSS certification required (AHA Certifications only)
• Demonstrated competency in IV start, telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, and intracranial pressure monitoring
• Ability to float within the organization and accept on-call responsibilities
• Comfortable working rotating day and night 12-hour shifts and every other weekend

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation and ventilator management
• Intracranial pressure monitoring and EVD management
• Arterial and central line management, PICC and port care
• Stroke and acute CVA management, NIHSS assessments
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and 12-lead EKGs
• High flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, suctioning, and airway care
• Epic EHR experience for accurate charting and handoffs
• Titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips, sedation management, and emergency medication administration
• Infection prevention, PPE usage, and blood product administration
