Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage and assess emergency patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care
• Provide advanced life support and manage critical conditions including trauma, stroke, DKA, and sepsis
• Initiate and manage interventions—IV/ultrasound-guided IV insertion, IO insertion, and medication administration per protocol
• Perform cardiac monitoring and EKG interpretation to support rapid diagnosis
• Use trauma and stroke protocols to stabilize patients and coordinate timely transfers or consults
• Document care thoroughly in Sunrise/Allscripts EMR and communicate updates to the team and patients' families
• Operate and troubleshoot ED equipment such as Lucas device, Hotline Rapid Infuser, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis
• Maintain patient safety and staffing ratios (typically 4:1) while adapting during acute surges

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) — emergency nursing experience (position requests at least 2 years ED experience for contract labor)
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS and TNCC certifications required for contract RN candidates
• Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, dependability and punctuality
• Excellent communication skills with patients and interdisciplinary teams
• Comfortable working with psychiatric holds/annex area and multiple comorbidities

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing fundamentals and trauma/stroke care
• Ultrasound-guided IV insertion and IO insertion
• EKG interpretation and cardiopulmonary care
• Familiarity with Sunrise/Allscripts EMR
• Experience with ED devices: Lucas device, Hotline Rapid Infuser, Alaris pumps, Pyxis
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced ED with flexible patient ratios
