Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, neuro-focused progressive care to PCU patients with compassion and clinical excellence
• Perform thorough neurological assessments and monitor for changes in status, escalating concerns promptly
• Administer medications, IV therapies and treatments safely and accurately according to orders
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members — physicians, therapists, case managers — to coordinate patient-centered care
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans and discharge instructions to improve outcomes
• Document patient care clearly and efficiently in the electronic health record to support continuity and compliance
• Participate in unit-based initiatives to improve safety, quality metrics and patient experience

Qualifications

• Active RN license (TX RN or compact RN) — required
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience (progressive care/PCU or neuro experience preferred)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
• Strong assessment skills, particularly neurologic assessments and post-op neuro care
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and adapt to fast-paced PCU environment
• Current immunizations and ability to meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Neuro-focused assessment and recognition of subtle neurologic changes
• Telemetry monitoring, interpreting cardiac rhythms and responding to alarms
• IV therapy, medication administration and titratable drips familiarity
• Excellent clinical judgment, prioritization and time management
• Effective verbal and written communication with patients, families and care teams
• Proficiency with electronic health records and accurate documentation practices
