Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality respiratory care and deliver patient-centered treatment
- Operate and monitor ventilators and respiratory equipment with attention to safety
- Assess patients' respiratory status and respond promptly to changes
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement care plans
- Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments and home care
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of treatments and patient progress
Qualifications
- Active Respiratory Therapist license valid in Missouri (or ability to obtain)
- Credentialed respiratory therapist (CRT or RRT preferred)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS or PALS a plus
- Comfortable with airway management, ventilator management and monitoring
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Willingness to attend orientation starting with the assignment
Education
- Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent from an accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient with ventilators, oxygen delivery systems and airway devices
- Skilled in arterial blood gas (ABG) collection and interpretation
- Familiar with documentation best practices and electronic medical records
- Knowledgeable in infection control and respiratory therapy protocols
- Able to prioritize and manage care for multiple patients safely
