Roles & Responsibilities
- Coordinate compassionate nursing care for residents across all ages, tailoring to their unique needs
- Lead patient and family teaching while collaborating seamlessly with the healthcare team
- Perform thorough nursing assessments through interviews, observation, and the nursing process
- Initiate, manage, and document care plans that promote healing and optimal health
- Delegate and supervise staff like CNAs and LPNs, stepping up as charge nurse when needed
- Respond calmly to emergencies with sound judgment and quick action
- Educate residents, families, and staff to empower better health outcomes and decision-making
Qualifications
- Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska (or applied for before start)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association
- Clinical Competency Assessment within 3 months of hire and every three years
- High Risk Competency within 3 months of hire and every year
- Minimum 1-2 years of nursing experience preferred
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (Bachelor’s degree, Associate's degree, or Diploma)
- High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in nursing assessment, patient teaching, care plan coordination, emergency response, and staff delegation
- Strong knowledge of nursing principles, pharmaceuticals, and emergency recognition
- Proficient in medical equipment operation, nursing procedures, and clear communication
- Ability to build cooperative relationships and implement therapeutic interventions
