Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care to newborns in the Special Care Nursery (Level 2 NICU) and postpartum mothers in a dynamic LDRP setting
• Attend deliveries as the baby nurse, performing immediate assessment, resuscitation, and stabilization of newborns
• Administer IV therapy, manage titratable drips (D5W, TPN), and support respiratory care including Bubble CPAP, Hiflow, and ventilation prior to transfer
• Assist with umbilical line placement and maintenance, and coordinate seamless transfers to higher level of care when needed
• Flex between NICU and postpartum assignments, caring for mother-baby couplets when nursery census is low
• Collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and the care team to ensure the best outcomes for our littlest patients

Qualifications

• Current Washington State RN license in good standing
• BLS and NRP certifications required (we can help if you need to renew)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in NICU Level 2 and postpartum care preferred
• Proven skills in IV start and maintenance, Bubble CPAP, Hiflow, and umbilical line placement assistance
• Comfortable attending deliveries and providing immediate newborn care with confidence
• Flexibility to adapt to changing patient assignments and work in a team-oriented environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of neonatal assessment, respiratory distress management, and newborn resuscitation
• Proficiency in IV therapy, medication titration, and equipment like CPAP, Bipap, and Hiflow
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced birth center environment
