Location: Chicago, Illinois

End Date: 05-24-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating schedule including weekends and holidays, 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM; on-call one night every 2 weeks and one weekend every 6 weeks; options for 4x10-hour or 3x12-hour shifts.

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $28 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Perform surgical scrub duties in a fast-paced OR department handling open heart, orthopedic, and multiple surgical cases
Maintain a sterile field and assist surgical team during procedures
Utilize EPIC for documentation and case coordination
Participate in on-call rotation: one night every 2 weeks and one weekend every 6 weeks
Adapt to variable shift lengths based on case load, with core hours 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM

Qualifications

2+ years of OR experience in a busy surgical department required
Active BLS certification
DCI/BVP certification preferred
Must pass Prime Specialty Exam, Core Competencies Exam, and Skills Checklist
Ability to take call and work rotating weekends and holidays

Knowledge & Skills

Expert surgical scrub techniques and sterile technique
Proficiency in EPIC electronic health records
Strong understanding of OR protocols and patient safety
Ability to handle a high volume of diverse surgical cases including open hearts and orthopedics
