Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to laboring patients, including monitoring fetal heart tones and maternal vital signs
• Circulate during cesarean sections, ensuring sterile field and assisting the surgical team
• Manage inductions of labor and administer oxytocin per protocol
• Care for postpartum patients, including newborn assessment and breastfeeding support
• Perform antepartum monitoring and administer medications such as magnesium sulfate and antenatal steroids
• Assist with procedures like cerclage, D&C, and mechanical dilation
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe deliveries and positive patient outcomes
• Document patient care accurately in CPN and Meditech EMR systems

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of recent Labor and Delivery nursing experience
• Current and unencumbered RN license in Texas or compact state
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required upon start
• Experience circulating for cesarean sections is a must
• Postpartum care experience preferred
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, weekends, and take call as scheduled
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a positive and flexible attitude

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in Labor & Delivery nursing, including high-risk obstetrics
• Proficiency in circulating for C-sections and assisting in the OR
• Knowledge of fetal monitoring (GE), neonatal resuscitation, and maternal hemorrhage protocols
• Competency in postpartum and antepartum care
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (CPN and Meditech)
