Location: Bismarck, North Dakota

Start Date: 06-15-2026

End Date: 09-14-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; also 8-hour shifts 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM; self-scheduling with every other weekend and holiday

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $58 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, hands-on care to adolescents and adults in a 25-bed inpatient psychiatric unit
Build trusting relationships while supporting patients through depression, anxiety, substance use, and other behavioral health challenges
Lead therapeutic interactions and assist with 15-minute safety rounds to keep patients engaged and supported
Collaborate with mental health techs, occupational therapy, and social work to deliver holistic care
Respond calmly to behavioral escalations using strong de-escalation and communication skills
Float throughout the hospital as needed to support 1:1 patient care or additional staffing needs

Qualifications

Active RN license in North Dakota or compact license
BLS certification required; CPI preferred
Acute or inpatient psychiatric experience strongly preferred
Strong de-escalation and communication skills
Open to first-time travelers and those with adolescent experience

Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of common psychiatric diagnoses including depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, and substance use disorders
Ability to work with both adolescent and adult populations on the same unit
Comfort with a locked unit environment and safety protocols
Willingness to assist with patient care tasks beyond traditional nursing duties
