Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM (night schedule). Schedule per unit needs with potential floating every shift; includes 5-6 weekend shifts over a 6-week period (approximately every other weekend). 36-hour option may be available.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias to keep patients safe and stable
• Manage pre- and post-cardiac catheterization and post-cardiac surgery care, including sheath removal
• Administer and monitor cardiac drips and titrate medications such as Diltiazem and Amiodarone per protocol
• Provide central line and PICC line management and safely administer blood products
• Respond to rapid response and code situations with calm, effective clinical action
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and use SBAR for clear clinical communication
• Float to other units as required and adapt to changing patient acuity and unit needs

Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in the state of North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of strong cardiac telemetry/stepdown experience (Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown)
• ACLS required prior to start
• BLS required (listed as preferred in some notes) and NIH/NIHSS preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty
• Comfortable with cardiac drip management, sheath pulls, TR bands and femstop procedures
• Able to work night shifts, float as needed, and participate on storm/hurricane teams when required
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guidelines
• Traveler experience accepted; first-time travelers will be considered. Locals accepted.

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac telemetry and remote cardiac monitoring
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with pre/post cardiac cath and post-op cardiac surgery care
• Familiarity with Epic electronic health record and Pyxis medication systems
• Blood product administration and central/peripheral line care
• Vasoactive and cardiac drip titration familiarity (Dobutamine, Milrinone, Dopamine, Amiodarone, Diltiazem, etc.)
• Sheath removal, TR bands and femstop procedures
• Strong teamwork, clinical judgment, and rapid response/code team participation
