Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to telemetry, med/surg, orthopedic and neuro patients
• Interpret telemetry strips and sign at least once per shift, collaborating with remote monitor techs
• Assess and monitor patients with COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetic, TIA/CVA and post‑op surgical needs
• Administer and monitor set-rate drips (e.g., diltiazem) per protocol and ensure safe medication practices
• Document accurately and efficiently in Cerner to maintain continuity of care
• Collaborate with charge nurse, interdisciplinary team and support staff to optimize patient outcomes
• Support unit flow by floating to East Campus or PCU when needed and appropriate
• Participate in self-scheduling and unit staffing processes to maintain coverage and work-life balance

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — must be eligible to practice in Arizona
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (telemetry/MedSurg or surgical experience preferred)
• Comfortable reading and interpreting basic telemetry strips
• Cerner experience recommended (one day of orientation on unit)
• Willingness to work night shifts and meet weekend/holiday coverage expectations
• Ability to float to East Campus/PCU when qualified

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and EKG/telemetry interpretation
• MedSurg nursing and orthopedic surgical patient care
• CVA/TIA assessment and care
• Experience with high flow oxygen, BiPAP/CPAP and respiratory supports
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic charting
• Strong assessment, clinical judgment and interdisciplinary communication skills
• Ability to work with remote monitor/telemetry techs and follow unit protocols
