Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to medical, surgical and orthopedic patients on a 42-bed med-surg unit
• Assess patients continuously and implement individualized nursing plans to promote safe, effective outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments safely, including titrated Heparin per protocol
• Accurately document care and patient progress in EPIC to maintain clear communication across the care team
• Collaborate closely with respiratory therapy, physicians, charge nurses and patient care techs to coordinate care
• Support and supervise patient care technicians and assist in maintaining unit workflows and patient safety
• Complete required orientation and demonstrate competency on skills checks (orientation includes classroom + floor shifts)

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for submission
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care/med-surg RN experience (per job posting)
• Telemetry experience preferred — familiarity with central and floor-based monitoring
• Driver's license required at time of submittal (used to confirm radius eligibility)
• Willingness to float to PCU or Burn as needed
• Able to comply with unit policies (example: artificial nails prohibited) and pass orientation skills checks

Education

• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong med-surg and telemetry nursing knowledge
• Proficiency with EPIC charting and electronic documentation
• Skill with medication administration, including heparin protocols
• Ability to work with respiratory therapy and manage patients requiring RT support
• Comfort managing 1:5-1:6 patient ratios and coordinating care with support staff
• Good triage, assessment and critical thinking skills in an acute care setting
