Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional critical care nursing across MICU, SICU, TICU and CVICU environments, delivering hands-on care to high-acuity patients
• Float across Zone 1 facilities (Penrose, St. Francis campuses, St. Mary Corwin, St. Thomas More) and adapt quickly to each unit’s workflow
• Manage ventilators and respiratory support in collaboration with respiratory therapy, troubleshooting when needed
• Titrate pressors, sedation, paralytics and other critical drips safely and confidently
• Interpret telemetry and manage cardiac rhythms independently when monitor techs are not present
• Care for patients on CRRT and mechanical circulatory support (IABP, Impella) with 1:1 or 1:2 nurse-patient ratios as acuity dictates
• Document thoroughly in Epic to ensure continuity of care
• Help maintain unit stability by filling gaps in permanent schedules and participating in holiday/weekend rotations as needed

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to work in Colorado) — license to submit required
• Minimum 2 years ICU nursing experience (if first-time traveler, 3+ years ICU experience required)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIHSS certification required
• Comfortable titrating critical drips and managing high-acuity devices (CRRT, IABP, Impella)
• Epic charting experience required for first-time travelers; Epic experience strongly preferred
• Reliable transportation and willingness to float within a 60-mile zone (driver’s license must be submitted)

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and respiratory support skills (Vents, CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow)
• Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation without tech support
• Titration of pressors, sedatives, paralytics, insulin, heparin and other ICU drips
• Experience with CRRT and other renal replacement therapies
• Familiarity with mechanical circulatory support (IABP, Impella)
• Strong critical thinking and rapid assessment skills for changing patient acuity
• Proficient Epic documentation and electronic chart navigation
• Ability to function autonomously and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
