Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform single-scrub cardiac cases in the CVOR with precision and adherence to sterile technique
• Scrub in the main OR for orthopedics, neurosurgery, vascular, robotics, urology, general surgery and gynecology when cardiac volume is low
• Prepare, organize, and maintain surgical instruments, implants, and sterile supplies for each case
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments efficiently to support excellent patient outcomes
• Maintain strict sterile field practices and ensure infection prevention standards are followed
• Document case details and charting accurately in Cerner and communicate changes to the care team
• Participate in call duties and collaborate with nursing and surgical teams to support emergent cases

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA — required
• BLS certification — required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant OR/CVOR experience preferred
• Demonstrated CVOR competency and ability to single scrub cardiac cases
• Comfortable scrubbing across multiple specialties: ortho, neuro, vascular, robotics, urology, general, gyn
• Ability to work 10-hour day shifts, participate in call rotation and every-other-weekend coverage

Education

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) — NBSTSA (required)
• BLS Certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Single scrub cardiac technique and CVOR workflows
• Operating Room (OR) scrub best practices and sterile technique
• Instrument identification and surgical instrument handling
• Familiarity with Cerner charting system
• Ability to support robotic and specialty surgical procedures
• Strong teamwork, communication, and situational awareness in high-acuity environments
