Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to medical, surgical, and orthopedic patients
• Administer medications safely, including heparin per protocol, and monitor patient response
• Continuously monitor telemetry, promptly recognize changes, and escalate concerns
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately in EPIC
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy and interdisciplinary team members to optimize care
• Work effectively with unit nursing assistants/techs to maintain patient safety and flow
• Participate in orientation, complete competency evaluations, and demonstrate skills
• Adhere to facility policies (including infection control and no artificial nails in patient care areas)

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for submission
• Minimum 1 year of acute care nursing experience (Med-Surg/Telemetry preferred)
• Current BLS certification required
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and med-surg/orthopedics patient populations
• Driver's license required at submittal (radius rule applies: candidates outside 50 miles will be screened)
• Willingness to float to PCU or Burn as needed
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and meet the orientation/pass-fail exam requirements (90% pass threshold during orientation)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with EPIC charting and electronic documentation
• Strong telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills
• Medication administration knowledge, including heparin management
• Solid med-surg and orthopedic assessment skills
• Ability to collaborate with respiratory therapy and other support services
• Familiarity with acute care workflows, patient ratios (1:5-6), and delegation to techs
• Good clinical judgment, prioritization, and communication skills
