Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and turnover of the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) for cardiac, thoracic and vascular procedures
• Sterilely set and handle instruments during Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) and valve replacement surgeries
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses and perfusionists to maintain a safe, efficient OR environment
• Ensure accurate EPIC charting and documentation when required
• Support perioperative patient care by following infection control and fingernail/artificial nail policies
• Respond to call assignments when scheduled and provide dependable coverage for weekdays, weekends and holidays

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience (Job lists 2 years required)
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Military-trained surgical technologist accepted
• Current BLS certification required at time of submission
• Driver's license required at time of submission (used to verify 50-mile radius eligibility)
• Demonstrated proficiency in CABG and valve replacement procedures; versed in cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery
• EPIC experience within the last 6 months is requested (not a deal breaker, but helpful for orientation)
• Must not be currently full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and/or Dignity)
• Willingness/availability to meet RTO requirement up front (7 or fewer days required for this 13-week contract)
• Compliance with facility policies (e.g., artificial nails prohibition in patient care areas)

Education

• BSN not required
• CST certification accepted or military-trained surgical technologist status recognized

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) procedures and workflows
• Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) and Valve Replacement technique familiarity
• Cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgical instrumentation and setup
• EPIC charting experience (preferred if within 6 months)
• Strong sterile technique and perioperative safety practices
• Ability to respond to call assignments and adapt to variable staffing needs
