Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality post-anesthesia care in the PACU and SSSU, ensuring patient safety during recovery
• Perform thorough nursing assessments and recognize post-anesthesia and post-operative complications early
• Deliver peri-operative education and counseling to patients and families to support recovery and reduce anxiety
• Float across Outpatient Services including Day Surgery and Endoscopy Lab to meet patient care needs
• Administer and monitor conscious sedation for special procedures as required by the unit
• Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesia, and pre-op clinic staff to ensure smooth patient flow and continuity of care
• Document care thoroughly and communicate changes in patient status to the interdisciplinary team

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Washington or ability to obtain licensure prior to start
• Strong PACU experience with demonstrated pre/post-operative skills (required)
• Experience with endoscopy, day surgery, and conscious sedation procedures
• Comfortable floating between units in an outpatient services environment
• Excellent nursing assessment skills and ability to recognize post-anesthesia/post-operative complications
• Professional communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams

Knowledge & Skills

• Nursing assessment and problem recognition in the post-anesthesia period
• Peri-operative education and patient teaching
• Post-anesthesia care and monitoring
• Recognition and management of post-operative complications
• Experience in endoscopy and day surgery workflows
• Conscious sedation monitoring and safety practices
• Ability to work across Pre-operative Clinic, PACU, Endoscopy, and Day Surgery
