Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM (cyclic self-scheduling). Night-focused schedule with minimum every 3rd weekend and at least 2 holidays per contract; guaranteed 48 hours/week. (Specific days vary per self-scheduled cycle)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care for adults and geriatrics in an inpatient rehab setting
• Execute safe medication administration and management (including antibiotics, anticoagulation/antiplatelet therapies) following hospital protocols
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and charge nurse to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes
• Perform assessments, document thoroughly in EPIC, and communicate changes in condition to the care team
• Support patient mobility and recovery plans, assisting with ADLs and rehab goals alongside therapy teams
• Float to MedSurg as needed, maintaining adaptable high-quality care across units
• Participate in unit initiatives that promote quality, safety, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of practice (ability to submit license required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience (MedSurg / Rehab experience preferred)
• Experience with EPIC charting preferred
• Driver's license required at submittal (radius rule: candidates must be within 50 miles and not currently employed FT/PT/PRN with CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facilities)
• Willingness to complete orientation requirements and pass the open-book skills exam (90% required)
• Ability to float to MedSurg and work collaboratively with nurse aides/patient care techs

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). BSN is not required.
• BLS required (listed separately under qualifications)

Knowledge & Skills

• Inpatient rehab and medical-surgical nursing practices
• Adult and geriatric patient care including stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury and neurological disease
• Proficient medication administration and familiarity with antibiotics and anticoagulation management
• Strong clinical documentation skills in EPIC
• Excellent communication, teamwork, organization and problem-solving abilities
• Comfort working with unit ratios (Days 1:5, Nights 1:6) and supporting charge nurse directives
• Adherence to professional policies (e.g., fingernail/artificial nail restrictions) and unit standards
